The project for a Community Play as part of the Town's Millennium Celebrations is
already underway as this is being written. It has to be so as there is a great deal of
work to be done.
The Director for the play is Barbie Davies.
Barbie is currently Head of Drama at Marlwood School in Alveston having lived in
Thornbury for 23 years.
She has directed a large number of every type of event with casts and crew of 350 or
more. No stranger to budgeting, she has coped with productions both well financed and
conversely delivered through frequent practice on a shoestring.
The broad concept of the piece is two sets of play, comprising 6 or 7 in total each
presented on sites identified as having historical significance to the town of Thornbury.
In this sense, the term historical can cover both the recent past recovered from the
precious memories of people whose families have lived in the town for very many years to
events recorded only on precious documents held in our National or local archives.
